Whether a prominent talking head or a keen observer with a raft of experience, WOMEX is seeking proposals from representatives across the musical spectrum who wish to present their vision, map out an idea or lay the foundation for moving the industry forward.
Part of what makes WOMEX so important and effective to many of our delegates’ businesses is our Networking Meetings and Presentations. This is where representatives from across the globe come together to build new partnerships and develop innovative ideas. Below, we’ve detailed the Networking Meetings and Presentations at WOMEX 2014:
The steps towards WOMEX were taken in October 1991 within the ‘Worldwide Music Days at the BID’ in Berlin, Germany as part of the Berlin Independence Days annual indie music convention. The first edition of WOMEX, boldly stand-alone after the closure of the BID, then took place in Berlin in 1994. Back then, the aim was to host an event that would bring together all the key players within world music and, collaboratively, provide a platform to map out a future for the industry, a principle that continues to inform and guide all WOMEX editions to this day.
WOMEX is delighted to announce the start of our call for Showcase, Conference and Film proposals for WOMEX 14, taking place in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain from Wednesday, 22 October until Sunday, 26 October.
